Christmas seems to have come up very quickly this year & I’m not well prepared! Lucky I’m not hosting anything but I did manage to make my present for the family secret Santa – a tote bag made of upholstery fabrics that had been gifted to me. I tutored some print workshops recently for a […]

Geraldton workshop
I’m back from Geraldton, had a good workshop with great hardworking students. The workshop was held in conjunction with the WAFTA Mysterium exhibition some of which also travelled to Geraldton and was on display at the ACDC Gallery where the workshops were held. It was all part of G Fest, a regional, annual festival. We […]

Heat transfer dyeing
I’m tutoring a Dispersal dye workshop in May. I’ve had these dyes mixed for ages so needed to test them in case I have to re-stock. They are still fine but some will need topping up. I used a fern as a resist when transferring from painted paper to the fabric. The same leaf can […]

Prints and more
Some of my demo pieces from the heat transfer workshop – above was a fairly random arrangement of torn painted papers and resists (fern leaves & yarn) which were heat transferred onto delustred satin – came out surprisingly well! In this sample, a lace doyley was used as the resist. The paper (right) was painted, glad […]
Workshop fabrics
Here are my fabrics from the workshop with Kerr Grabowski, batched and washed out. The above fabric I actually did later at home. It’s another layer over a previous piece that washed out too pale. I love it now. It uses the same paper stencils as the much bigger fabric below. I think […]
Last week…
The above piece was done with heat transfer dyes on a bright yellow polyester, linen look fabric. Not my usual colours but I really like it. I also painted lots of other papers to transfer later. The painted papers last indefinitely as long as they’re stored away from light. The workshop with Kerr Grabowski last […]
